Dennis Buckstead, a church leader, is tasked with coaching a group of novice players to win the Basketball Championship, as demanded by Bishop Linderman. This is the last season of church ball, and the bishop will not tolerate another losing season. Despite the sport's intention to promote physical and mental well-being, it instead brings out the worst in the players. Dennis must unite his team to achieve victory or risk being remembered as the worst team in church ball history.
