Charlie Bradford, a 30-something filmmaker, tries to distance himself from his chaotic childhood home, where his eccentric mother Linda, a compulsive hoarder with depression, keeps her loved ones close. When a water stain is misinterpreted as a Virgin Mary apparition, the house attracts unwanted attention, giving the family a week to clean up before losing their home.
