A group of copper miners, Southern veterans, are harassed by local rebels led by Deputy Lane Travis. They mistakenly hire stage sharpshooter Johnny Carter, who they believe to be the legendary Colonel Desmond. Meanwhile, Johnny falls for Lisa Roselle, a gambler the miners suspect is connected to their troubles.
