Three San Quentin escapees, Penny, Hastings, and Morgan, commit a violent crime, killing a cop in a gas-station robbery. Morgan, wounded, seeks refuge with his former cellmate Steve Lacey, who's trying to rebuild his life with a new wife. However, a determined homicide detective wants Steve's help to capture the fugitives, while they simultaneously blackmail him into assisting with a bank heist.
