Crimson Romance background

Crimson Romance

A struggling German immigrant in early 20th-century America, driven by xenophobia, finds solace in joining the German air force alongside a friend, seeking a new life and a chance to escape his circumstances.

Pilots Bob Wilson and Fred von Bergen, childhood friends, test airplanes for an American company building bombers for European allies. When Fred, a German-born pilot, loses his job, Bob quits and joins him in Germany, despite having no attachment to the German cause. After an unsuccessful mission, Bob's loyalty is questioned, and he's arrested for choosing love over duty. Fred, heartbroken over Alida's choice, quarrels with Bob, but later helps him escape. Bob returns to the British forces and leads a mission to a German base, while Fred is ordered to shoot him down. In the end, Fred sacrifices his life for Bob, who returns to America with Alida.
