In the summer of 1990, in a small village in East Germany, Olli is thrilled to experience the newfound freedom after reunification. Despite being unaware of the world beyond his village, Olli has high expectations. With limited intelligence, he becomes convinced that the US is just a short distance away, across the lake. His sister Peggy decides not to deter him, and instead, joins him on an adventure that takes them to the surprising proximity of New York's subway.
