In this film, a notorious New Orleans madam is sentenced to 90 days of house arrest in a convent, where she must adapt to a drastically different lifestyle. As she navigates her new surroundings, Dixie Cabot learns valuable lessons from the nuns, while they also benefit from her worldly wisdom. The Mother Superior, played by Cloris Leachman, is initially skeptical of Dixie's presence, but eventually warms up to her. Meanwhile, Sister Agnes, played by Geraldine Fitzgerald, serves as a wise and experienced mentor to both Dixie and the other nuns.
