Eco de la montaña background

Eco de la montaña

Santos de la Torre, a celebrated Wixarika artist, resides in the Western Sierra Madre, leading a life of understated anonymity.

Santos de la Torre, a renowned Huichol artist, lives in obscurity despite his talent. One of his murals was chosen to represent Mexican culture in Paris, but he was never compensated. The documentary follows Santos on his pilgrimage to Wirikuta, where he seeks permission from the gods to create a new mural depicting Huichol history, mythology, and spirituality. The film takes viewers on a 385-mile journey along the "Peyote Route," which is threatened with disappearance unless UNESCO provides protection.
