African elephant Shani and her spirited son Jomo embark on a treacherous 400-mile journey with their herd across the Kalahari Desert, from the Okavango delta to the Zambezi River, a path their ancestors have taken for generations. As the last of their kind to make this migration, Shani's family relies on the life-giving water of the Okavango delta, which is drying up due to the receding water table. With the herd's survival dependent on Gaia's experience and wisdom, they must navigate ancient elephant paths and cross the Zambezi River, fighting a fierce current and predators, to reach the safe haven of the delta.
