Gene Autry and his sidekick Frog embark on a journey westward from New York City, accompanied by Gene's horse Champion, and a young boy named Ronnie who mistakenly believes Gene is his father's rancher acquaintance. Unbeknownst to Ronnie, his father is a wrongly imprisoned man being held captive by corrupt officials who will stop at nothing to silence him. Along the way, the group encounters a runaway bride and her sister, and together they face a series of musical numbers and adventures before ultimately solving the mystery and bringing the villains to justice.
