Kingdom Swann, a talented but naive Scottish artist, struggles to find demand for his paintings in Edwardian London. With the help of his new assistant, Cromwell Marsh, he transforms into a society photographer and becomes in demand. However, Marsh's true intentions are revealed when he starts printing and selling nude photos on the black market, unbeknownst to Swann. Violet, Swann's loyal housekeeper, and a group of suffragettes discover the scheme, which is supported by a surprising customer with ambitions to enter the House of Lords.
