In the deserted mining town of Waterhole, U.S. Marshal Cheyenne Davis is sent to investigate the disappearance of federal surveyor Bob Craig. Upon arrival, he finds two henchmen, Flint and Waco, who have ambushed a man named Rodney Trent and stolen his papers. Cheyenne and local lawman Fuzzy Jones take Trent to Fuzzy's shack, where he reveals he's come to claim an inheritance in Barton City and that his daughter Diane is on her way to join him. As Cheyenne and Fuzzy dig deeper, they suspect that the land's owner, Vince Sharpe, has a hidden motive for wanting the seemingly worthless property, and they devise a plan to uncover the truth.
