A young couple's evening is disrupted when a giant gila monster attacks their car, forcing them to flee. Chase, a mechanic and hot rod racer, joins forces with his former rival Waco Bob and his sidekick Carla to help the local sheriff investigate the creature. After attempting to destroy the lizard, they realize it's not deterred and continues to terrorize the town. Chase comes up with a plan to use his prized hot rod, rigged with nitroglycerin, to take down the monster and save the town.
