Jay Brooks, a fan of indie rock and graphic novels, goes on a quest to date women of his own race after a string of unsuccessful relationships with white women. However, his attempts at connecting with black women fail due to his unconventional personality. It's not until he meets Catherine, a unique and quirky individual, that he must confront his fears and realize that commitment is a more significant challenge than race.
