A group of Irish working men, known as Navvies, have been living in North West London for 25 years. Despite their struggles with alienation and despair, they find comfort in their camaraderie and the idea of living life to the fullest. However, their world is turned upside down when one of their own, Jackie, is found dead on the railway tracks. The gang gathers for a wake to celebrate Jackie's life, but as they reminisce about their friend, they are forced to confront the possibility that his death was not an accident, but a suicide. As they struggle to come to terms with this truth, they are drawn to an Irish pub, where they must face the harsh reality of their situation.
