In French Indochina, a charismatic playboy named Bill Carey finds himself entwined in a passionate romance with a captivating half-caste woman, whose social status is complicated by her inferior legal standing, putting their love to the test.

In French Saigon, a group of wealthy jet-setters arrive, only to be captivated by the charms of Manon deVargnes, a woman with mixed ancestry who's forbidden to leave the country. When the others depart, Bill Carey, a charming playboy, remains to win Manon's heart, but his attempts to spirit her away are met with resistance. Meanwhile, Pierre Delaroch, Manon's former suitor, bides his time, waiting for Bill to give up his pursuit.
