Walter, a young architect, leaves his wife to design a mansion for Harrison in Los Angeles. After a close call with a reckless truck driver, he reports the incident, leading to the driver's termination. Upon arriving at his new apartment, Walter encounters a cantankerous landlord and begins to face a series of bizarre and unsettling events. His drawings are destroyed, Harrison rejects his work, and chaos ensues. Walter's apartment is infested with rats, and he discovers his beautiful neighbor brutally murdered in his bed. As the strange occurrences pile up, Walter becomes convinced that the fired truck driver is seeking revenge.
