Macario, a poor and hungry peasant, yearns for a satisfying meal on the Day of the Dead. His wife cooks a turkey, which becomes the focal point of a series of surreal encounters with the Devil, God, and Death. While initially refusing their requests to share the turkey, Macario ultimately agrees to share it with Death, who rewards him with a magical bottle of water capable of curing any illness. As a result, Macario's fortunes dramatically improve, making him wealthier than the village doctor, but also attracting the attention of the feared Inquisition.
