The quaint town of Dunmow, England, is famous for the Dunmow Flitch, a mock trial where married couples prove their fidelity to win a coveted flitch of bacon. The Tophams, who have lived in Dunmow for 15 years, are outsiders to the traditionalists, particularly Miss Honeycroft, the vicar's sister. This year, Miss Honeycroft is irked that Marjorie Topham has nominated her son Basil and his wife Julie, as the only entrants in the Flitch. Basil and Julie's young married life is imperfect, living with Basil's parents and grandfather, and their house being built by local contractor Stanley Grimes. The arrival of their new housekeeper, the exotic Marta, a Hungarian with ulterior motives, adds to the chaos.
Made in Heaven
A young couple's marriage is put to the ultimate test when they participate in a centuries-old tradition, requiring them to prove their enduring love after a year of matrimony.
