A former lawman named Will Lane arrives in Montana to fulfill a promise to his deceased friend, taking care of his son Lee Carey and managing the partially built Carey ranch and its livestock. Will Lane intends to hand over the inheritance to Lee when he becomes responsible and mature, and also finds him a suitable wife to keep him out of trouble.
