A musical adaptation of Don Quixote, set against the backdrop of an incident from the life of its author Miguel de Cervantes, follows the tale of an eccentric, aging nobleman who goes on absurd adventures, much to the dismay of his family. Accompanied by his loyal sidekick Sancho Panza, Don Quixote engages in duels with windmills and fiercely defends his idealized lady, Dulcinea, who is revealed to be a humble woman named Aldonza.
