Three friends, Nugget, Underwood, and Short, arrive at the eerie Half-Way House after their stagecoach is intentionally wrecked. As night falls, the atmosphere becomes increasingly ominous, prompting Nugget to flee to Amarillo. Unbeknownst to him, Short's lifeless body is hidden in the wagon. When Sheriff Lane discovers Nugget and the corpse, he sets out to investigate, only to find no trace of Underwood, except for a large sum of cash he was carrying.
