Tommy Lewis, the son of a notorious racketeer, is enrolled in military school under an assumed name to escape his father's notoriety. He shares a room with Dick, an egotistical athlete, and Sandy, a pampered rich boy, each with their own personal struggles. When Tommy's father visits the school, he's recognized by a reporter and Tommy's true identity is exposed. Despite the ridicule, Tommy decides to stay in school, inspired by the headmaster's advice to not quit under fire. When he discovers Prentiss, the headmaster's son, stealing from the student cash fund, Tommy decides to protect the school's reputation by wiring his father for money to replace the stolen funds. However, Tommy is caught replacing the money and accused of theft. Despite being given the opportunity to denounce Prentiss, Tommy refuses, and instead names him as his defense counsel, leading to Prentiss's confession. The incident sparks a chain of events that ultimately leads to the headmaster's decision to stay at the school, inspired by Tommy's example.
