Mother's Meat & Freud's Flesh background

Mother's Meat & Freud's Flesh

A psychological drama that delves into the complex bond between a mother and her adult son, a psychiatrist, whose prolonged dependence on her raises questions about the boundaries of maternal love and the consequences of unresolved childhood issues.

Demira, a struggling actor in the adult film industry, seeks help from a psychiatrist to overcome his compulsive phone calls to his overbearing mother, Esther. Despite his same-sex attractions, Demira develops an unexpected relationship with the doctor. When Esther arrives in town, Demira attempts to get her attention with various stunts, but she's too caught up in her own romantic life to notice. His big break comes when he's cast in a film written specifically for him, but the script is humiliating and degrading. Demira walks off the set, potentially marking a turning point in his journey to break free from his mother's suffocating influence.
