Violetta, raised by her grandmother, is exploited by her mother Hanna, a photographer chasing fame. Hanna's focus on her career leads her to neglect her daughter's well-being, and she sees Violetta as a potential model. As Hanna's photographs become increasingly provocative, Violetta becomes alienated from her peers and is frequently bullied and rejected at school. After her grandmother's death, Hanna's abuse and manipulation of Violetta intensify, forcing her daughter to pose for increasingly daring photos under the threat of starvation.
