Renowned dancer Homer Avila discovers he has cancer and has his right leg and most of his hip amputated. The film Phoenix Dance follows the creation of a pas de deux, Pas, by choreographer Alonzo King, and Avila's collaboration with dancer Andrea Flores. Despite his disability, Avila creates a new unity with Flores, with traditional roles reversed, showcasing interdependence, trust, and strength.
