In the 1950s, a mysterious sailor named Captain Charles Johnson arrives in Grey Rocks, Nova Scotia, and moves into a local inn. The inn is run by Kerstin Hawkins and her son Jim, who soon discovers that Johnson is more than just a retired sailor. Johnson helps Jim with a school project on local pirates, revealing his extensive knowledge and skills. Meanwhile, Johnson learns about a modern-day pirate, Mr. Moehner, who is threatening the town, and offers to help stop him.
