In the gritty 1970s New York City, rookie cop Beauregard Lockley joins the 16th detective squad, bringing a fresh perspective and idealism to the force. Despite his inexperience, he's paired with veteran detective Richard Blackstone, who's skeptical of Lockley's chances of survival in the city's violent streets. As they work to take down notorious drug dealer Thomas "Stick" Henderson, Lockley becomes smitten with undercover detective Patty Butler, unaware that she's a cop. When Patty disappears, Lockley is sent to find her, leading to a series of tragic events that test his determination to save her and unravel the complex web of deceit.
