A dedicated teacher, Dayalan, joins a rural government school and is appalled by the poor condition of education. He notices a lack of connection between teachers and students, and is dismayed by the teachers' materialistic priorities. Despite resistance from teachers and students, Dayalan introduces innovative methods, boosts student confidence, and inspires a love of learning. However, his efforts are met with opposition from the stubborn assistant headmaster, Singam Perumal.
