When a dispute at a dog show costs "Smoky" the top prize, his owner Judy Weston decides to sell him. However, the dog's trainer, Ben, secretly brings "Smoky" on a flight to Canada, where they crash in a blizzard. "Smoky" escapes, while his companion "Shadow" frees himself despite a broken leg and finds help for the unconscious Judy and Ben.

Two Alsatian Shepherds, Smoky and Shadow, are trained by Judy Weston, but a confrontation at a dog show leads to Judy selling Shadow. However, Ben, the trainer, secretly rescues the dog and hides it on a plane headed back to its original home.
