Signs of Life background

Signs of Life

In a small Maine town, the decline of a treasured boat-building company has far-reaching consequences, as the community struggles to come to terms with the loss and find a new sense of purpose.

A family-owned boat building business in a Maine fishing village is shutting down after generations of operation. The owner, Owen Coughlin, is struggling to come to terms with the end of his business, which has been replaced by a demand for fiberglass products. As the employees prepare for their futures, Owen's dreams begin to blur with reality, causing him to question what is real and what is just his imagination. Meanwhile, the employees are making plans for their next steps, including a pair of salvage divers who must navigate their personal relationships and a boat builder who is awaiting the birth of his fifth child and considering a job at a rival boat yard.
