Before his passing in ancient Israel, King David has a prophetic vision from God, naming his younger son Solomon as his successor. However, his other son Adonijah is displeased and resolves to seize the throne. Meanwhile, the Egyptian Pharaoh agrees to relinquish a Red Sea port to the Queen of Sheba if she can find a way to eliminate Solomon, whose wisdom and benevolent rule is perceived as a threat to tyrannical monarchs in the region.
