Tom Cloud and his 12-year-old brother Bill inherit a farm in Kentucky, but their arrival sparks hostility from neighbors. A young veterinarian named Doc Richardson explains that the animosity stems from a wager made by the farm's former owner, Major Denning, who lost a bet with Tom's father.
