A high-achieving performer entrusts her young daughter to her estranged in-laws in Boston, only to uncover her child's remarkable gift and subsequently become an overbearing stage mother, driving her towards a Broadway premiere.

A vaudeville star abandons her daughter with her in-laws in Boston, pursuing a career while her daughter shows hidden talent. As the daughter's star rises, the mother becomes a demanding stage mother, pushing her into the spotlight. Despite her harsh methods, the mother has a soft spot and eventually recognizes the harm caused by her actions, ultimately changing her ways.
