In a small town, a series of gruesome murders by strangulation takes place, with the locals believing that the spirit of an innocent man wrongly hanged is seeking revenge on the descendants of those responsible for his death. Against this backdrop, Maria, granddaughter of the ferryman who played a part in the man's hanging, takes over the family ferry business and finds herself falling in love with Chris, a descendant of one of the men who participated in the hanging. When the killer targets Chris, Maria makes a desperate offer: she will give up her own life in exchange for Chris's safety.
