The film tells the true story of a small group of Norwegian sailors who risked their lives to smuggle refugees from occupied Norway to Shetland during World War II. Using small fishing boats, they bravely faced off against German airplanes and patrol boats, armed with only low-caliber weapons. The story is based on real events, with many of the gang members, including their leader, "Shetlands-Larsen," playing themselves in the film.
