A struggling musician, Pulavar Samy, spends his life drinking, while his teetotaler son, Sannaasi, leads a music and dance troupe. Sannaasi is loved by Sooravali, a fiery dancer with a soft spot for him and his father. When a fan, Karuppiah, proposes to Sooravali, her mother is impressed and convinces Sannaasi to help her daughter agree.
