A British colonel is summoned to the Foreign Office to investigate the disappearance of his brother, a captain, during World War II. He sets out to the Libyan desert with the help of the Foreign Office and a local guide, where he meets a Bedouin tribe and their sheikh. Despite initial denials, the sheikh's daughter secretly gives the colonel papers belonging to his brother, leading him to return and beg the sheikh to reveal the truth.
