The film follows the journey of a group of scientists, including Lowell Thomas, Paul Withington, and Clifton Childs, as they travel to Australia to search for remnants of Neanderthal man. They visit various locations, including Hawaii, Bali, and New Zealand, where they observe different cultures and traditions. In Australia, they encounter the indigenous Aboriginal people, whom they consider to be the most primitive on earth. The scientists are impressed by the physical specimens of the Aboriginal people and note the scarification on their bodies. They also discover a white woman living among the Aboriginal people, who has been living there for years after surviving a shipwreck. Despite being offered a chance to return to civilization, the woman chooses to stay with her Aboriginal husband and child.
