The Bride Wore Crutches background

The Bride Wore Crutches

A journalist's routine is disrupted when he accidentally witnesses a brazen bank robbery, leading him to join forces with the thieves and gain his girlfriend's newfound respect and admiration.

Johnny Dixon, a college journalist, gets a job at the "Daily Clarion" due to his mother's connection to the publisher. He faces hazing and pranks from his colleagues, but befriends Midge Lambert, the paper's sob-sister columnist. Johnny's lack of news sense and mistakes, including accidentally shooting at a police car, earn him the wrath of Managing Editor Bill Daly, who eventually fires him. Determined to redeem himself, Johnny and Midge solve the bank holdup and trick the gang into believing he's a wanted criminal. However, things take a turn when Johnny accidentally shoots his bride-to-be in the leg during a botched bank robbery.
