Edward Asner plays Horace McNickle, a two-time felon who escapes from prison dressed as Santa Claus due to his resemblance to St. Nick. He hides out in a suburban neighborhood, befriended by two local children who think he's the real Santa. As he helps the kids, McNickle develops kind feelings for them and begins to understand the true meaning of Christmas.
