Teresa, a young woman, is dumped by her policeman boyfriend Antonio after she rejects his advances. She travels to Tijuana and finds a job at a brothel, where she is forced to service customers. When Antonio shows up, he calls her a "money-hungry whore" and refuses to help her. The brothel's owner, Rita, discovers that Antonio recognizes Teresa and takes her to "The Ranch", where women are sold to the highest bidder. When Teresa and her friend Emilia fail to fetch 500 pesos from a customer, Emilia is killed while trying to escape. Teresa's survival becomes uncertain as she faces punishment for attempting to escape and is forced to endure harsh conditions.
