Two college students, Andy and Susan, are in a relationship, but Susan is unsure if it's genuine love or just passion. As she pushes Andy to take responsibility, he starts to flunk out of college and becomes a prime draft candidate. In the army, Andy's entitled attitude and lack of effort earn him disapproval from his superiors and fellow soldiers. His mother's visit to the camp only exacerbates the issue, but eventually, his superiors make a bold attempt to transform Andy into a responsible adult.
