Doctor John Marlowe, a renowned American surgeon, is tricked into performing an operation on the Vosnian dictator while visiting England. However, when the dictator dies, Marlowe is replaced by a lookalike, and he becomes the target of a ruthless pursuit by Vosnia's secret police, who will stop at nothing to keep the dictator's death a secret.
