A retired lawyer becomes enthralled by a holy man and his assistant, who claim to have a supernatural connection with Buddha and Hindu gods. The holy man, who calls his experiences "Cruci-fact," begins to give sermons to the lawyer's wealthy friends. The lawyer's family, including his unmarried daughter, becomes initiated into the guru's fold, but a group of rationalist friends plans to expose the holy man's supposed charlatanism.
