McLean is recalled to London, where he's fired for defending his assistant, who's caught leaking secrets to the Russians. Later, a Greek operative named George Venaxas approaches him with information on a Russian secret police official hiding in London. Despite initial hesitation, McLean agrees to help, but the plan goes awry when both the CIA and KGB will stop at nothing to capture the defector. Venaxas is killed, and a series of double-crosses ensues.
