A married couple, Jan and Gedda, have been together for a long time in the quiet town of Sint-Hildegard. As Gedda tries to control every aspect of their life, Jan yearns for more independence. When his father-in-law passes away, Jan sees an opportunity to break free from their suffocating relationship and decides to fake the onset of Alzheimer's symptoms to gain some freedom.
