In 1930s Kentucky, a corrupt IRS agent named Frank Long tries to extort moonshine producers, but his tactics backfire when his old army buddy, Son, refuses to pay up. As tensions escalate, Frank hires a pair of ruthless gangsters to intimidate Son, but they end up killing the local sheriff and deputy. Frank is horrified and joins forces with Son to defend his farm against the gangsters, led by the ruthless Dr. Emmett Taulbee.
