In 1901, a 34-year-old man, Christopher Leiningen, owns a chocolate plantation in South America, which he built from scratch. He decides to get a mail-order bride from New Orleans, but when she arrives, he's surprised to learn she's a widow. Despite their initial rejection, they team up to fight against an impending threat of army ants, and their bravery may lead Christopher to reconsider his decision to send her away.
