A wrongly accused man, Salem, escapes from an asylum after being locked away for a crime he didn't commit, an axe-murder conviction based on a false plea of "guilty due to insanity". He seeks revenge against his sister and her husband, who he holds responsible for the murder of a farmhand and his own wrongful imprisonment.
